Mark commenced his career as an elite swimmer representing Australia in the 1984 Olympics and 1986 Commonwealth Games. After Mark’s retirement from swimming in 1992, he joined the family business (Stockwell) established by his parents Bill and Necia Stockwell.

In 1998 Mark became Managing Director of W.A. Stockwell Pty Ltd. Since then he has seen the company diversify as an investor, developer, builder and project manager to include industrial, retail, commercial, residential and leisure development.

Mark has been quick to identify opportunities in the retail and residential market.

Mark is a past President of the Queensland Division of the Property Council of Australia and served on the National Board for 2 years.

Mark was the Chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, having led the bid to win the right to host the Games.

Mark is currently Deputy Chairman of The Australian Sports Commission and Chairman of The Australian Sports Foundation.
