Celebrating the Grand Opening of 1770 - Agnes Water Central
The grand opening of Stockwell’s brand-new shopping centre – 1770 - Agnes Water Central took place on Saturday 22 July. Located in the thriving 1770 - Agnes Water community, this modern shopping complex provides an essential hub for local residents and a desirable destination for tourists alike.
1770 - Agnes Water Central has been designed as a community destination, offering a new full-line IGA Ever Fresh Supermarket, supported by specialty retail shops. With over 166 on-grade carparks and additional parking for trailers and caravans, this centre is set to provide for the everyday needs of local residents and visitors. Situated on Round Hill Road, the main access route into town the location ensures easy accessibility.
The grand opening on 22 July was a significant milestone for the communities of Agnes Water and 1770. The new centre offers increased shopping choice, affordability, and convenience, with a range of retailers and services, including Agnes Water Doctors, Livelife Pharmacy, Bendigo Bank, Bottlemart, D&D Nails, Agnes Water Beauty Hub, and Armani Tobacconist and Gifts.
Mark Stockwell, Managing Director of Stockwell, emphasised the significance of this development. “Opening this centre is really about delivering for the community and giving residents and visitors more choice for their daily needs. This new centre will save people time and money in fuel costs by preventing the need to undertake a three-hour round trip to Gladstone or Bundaberg."
The construction and opening of the centre have had a positive impact on local employment. Mark explained, "The majority of contractors used in the construction of the centre have been locals or come from Bundaberg and Gladstone, which was crucial in keeping investment in the local economy. And now on opening, over 100 new jobs have been created through the centre’s businesses or as a result of the ongoing operation of the centre.”
The opening ceremony, attended by approximately 700 people, was a joyous occasion and marked the beginning of a new era in Agnes Water.
