Stockwell's Investment in Community Growth at Mackay’s Northern Beaches

For nearly 25 years, Stockwell has played a significant role in the development and expansion of Mackay's Northern Beaches. What began as a 330-hectare masterplan consisting of retail, industrial, and residential projects has now evolved into a thriving community, with Stockwell responsible for many components of the masterplan.

Northern Beaches Central: The Early Years (1999-2007)

Stockwell's initial contribution to the area was the construction of Northern Beaches Central, which brought a Bi-Lo Supermarket and specialty retail to the community in December 2003. A 2007 expansion saw the existing Bi-Lo converted into a full-line Coles Supermarket. This expansion also paved the way for Stockwell to develop Northern Beaches' first Industrial Park on Carl Street supporting the growing number of business owners in the area.

Northern Beaches: A Primary Growth Area (2010-2017)

In 2010, Northern Beaches was classified as a primary growth area, prompting Stockwell to announce the second stage of Northern Beaches Central. This expansion included a full line Woolworths, 30 specialty stores, a McDonald's drive-thru, three commercial suites, and an additional 580 car spaces. The project was completed and opened in November 2011.

Further Expansion and Development (2018-2020)

Continued growth in the area led to another expansion at Northern Beaches Central in 2018, which included the addition of EG Fuel, Hungry Jacks, and KFC restaurants. Stockwell also broke ground on the Northern Beaches Central Showroom Precinct, situated across from Northern Beaches Central. The first stage of this project opened in 2021, attracting a mix of national tenants and local businesses, such as Fitstop, Mobil Fuel, Queensland Xray, City Cave, Burrito Bar Drive Thru, Sushi Hyo, The Common Room, and Contro Pilates & Yoga.

Latest Developments and the Future (2021-2023)

Following the success of the Northern Beaches Central Showroom Precinct's initial stages, construction has recently been completed on stages 4 & 5 with a new childcare centre, Eden Academy due to complete soon and open with full enrolments.

This year, Stockwell also announced that it would be developing a Solana Lifestyle Resort, an over 50's residential community within walking distance of Northern Beaches Central. With a focus on lifestyle and community, this development will provide residential options for downsizers and retirees with outstanding community facilities for active living. Construction of display home and sales office is nearing completion with the sales launch anticipated in June .
