Rose-Anne Kelso Commemorative Award

with Life Sciences Queensland

Stockwell is proud to sponsor the Annual Rose-Anne Kelso Commemorative Award with Life Sciences Queensland.

Rose was one of Stockwell's directors and was passionate about science, women and networking. This award recognises an individual female’s endeavours, passion and dedication to the health and life sciences industry.

University of Queensland’s (UQ) Dr Sonia Shah has won the prestigious 2023 Rose-Anne Kelso Commemorative Award.

Dr Sonia Shah is recognised internationally for her research leveraging genomics data to improve cardiovascular health. Lack of diversity in research participants has led to existing disparities in healthcare access. By focusing on communities that have been under-represented in cardiovascular research, including women and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, she aims to improve equity in cardiovascular healthcare. Sonia’s work is contributing to raising Queensland’s profile in cardiovascular genomics internationally. She has received national and international awards, including 2020 Genetic Society of Australasia Rising Star Award, Australian Superstar of STEM 2021/2022, 2022 Young Tall Poppy Award and is 1 of 5 globally shortlisted candidates for Nature Inspiring Women in STEM. She was named by News Corp as one of Australia’s top doctors and scientists changing the world. The award will fund future community engagement activities
